This was dug several months ago, but I'll explain why it is still a "new find" to me. I was looking through the Coinfacts website for Jefferson nickels (http://coinfacts.com/nickels/jefferson_nickels/jefferson_nickels.html) and noticed that there is a rare overdate found in the 1943 P. Since I have recently found a couple of 1943 Ps I thought I'd give my coins a quick check for this mint error. I checked and was pleasantly surprised to have one! Take a look at the bottom of the three, and you'll see the base of a two beneath it. Too bad the coin has the environmental damage, because it might be more valuable. Still a nice coin to add to the collection. I'm really happy with it!

It is estimated that less than 40,000 of these coins remain.

Numismedia lists the 1943/42 overdate as the most valuable of the Jefferson nickels, but it is still not terribly valuable. A G4 lists for $24 and AU50 lists for $132. http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/prices/jefnkl/pricesgd.shtml

There are apparently not enough demand from Jefferson nickel collectors to drive up the price.

Uh, I believe your first 1943 is also a 43/42.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. All of the photos are of the same coin.
