Rare Trilobite from Ohio's Ordovician

This is Amphilichas halli. It is an extremely rare bug form the Ordovician of Ohio. My friend found this specimen and just had it prepared. When I saw it I just had to snap some pics. I have only found a couple of pygidiums (tails). It is killer. Nuff said.

Re: Rare Trilobite from Ohio's Ordovician

Wow, that's the most beautiful trilobite I've ever seen :o

Too bad we don't have any fossils to be found here in Finland. The last ice age did it's thing, and the withdrawing ice masses scraped off the top layers of the ground, and took every fossil who knows where... :-\

Re: Rare Trilobite from Ohio's Ordovician

Beautiful fossil!
Too bad they're extinct. I bet they would have made great aquarium pets (even if they might have been the cockroach of the oceans back then.... :D)

Thanks for all the comments. My friend just sold that trilobite to a collector in Tokyo, Japan. I hope he likes his new home.
