I believe the 1944 steel wheat penny is the one you want to look for and the 1943 copper wheat as well.

Lol I embarrass myself I'm always metal detecting or sifting something coin searching never had much luck yet so thinking I had something without further research letting excitement get the better of me equals embarrassment oh well better to just laugh at myself and move along I'm stubborn I'll hunt till one day I find something good not easily deterred

I had a steel cent almost new condition my grandmother gave me when I was younger back then I didn't know anything about it took it to school another jerk kid saw it and took it from me sigh was not pleasant being a scrawny short kid with thick glasses back in my school years but was my fault too for taking it to school than a lesson learned just happy now almost 23 now fitter and wiser about things of value to me my coins of value to me stay home hidden away now lol

Don't laugh at something you own that's worth 40 times face value. 40 cents doesn't seem like much, but think if you had 1,000 similar pennies in your collection.....

nice find.

Lol trust me I'm happy I've learned to appreciate all finds no matter how small always better than nothing. I feel lucky being someone who doesn't drive and lives way out in the country I'm limited to places I can walk to to hunt very lucky the area I'm in seems at one point to have had some sort of activity on it so I have no reason to complain very thankful for what I have

If you wave a strong magnet over your wheat collection any steel ones will jump out (to the magnet).
