Sure looks like it to me! Huge congratulations :occasion14:

Now that's a really awesome button congrats.

That's a no-brainer banner find-my vote is in.

Yeah Glenn I agree that is a Banner Find. Vote in

The South Carolina units and some British Provincial units had very, very similar buttons. Most are found in the South. See if you can find a reference for yours. Very nice button for sure.

Smokey, Do you know of an example that might be close to the one posted? If so, please post a picture. Thanks

I can not find anything on this button other than that reference on the GW inaugural button site....

Hey Gregg, not sure that the GW site has this one right. You'll notice I dug a similar variety with the notable difference of a flag aft of the rider. Don Troiani does suspect these are of loyalist origin, rather than SC dragoons. Still a solid find even if it's not a patriot button, always check those flats twice.

The reference that the OP gave lists it as a Loyalist/SC Dragoons button. All I was saying was that his button matches the one in the referenced picture.

As far as a correct id, that's above my pay grade 8-)

Thanks. The rim is definitely different on yours. I am well schooled in CW but not Rev. What exactly is a loyalist button

Loyalist or tories were those colonist loyal to the crown during the American revolution... Aka fighting alongside the British regulars

Very nice find. A Loyalist would be someone "loyal" to the King as opposed to wanting independence from the crown. The button might have said Long Live the King or some such on the back or been used by those loyal to the crown.
You probably knew that already but were overthinking.:occasion14:
