I haven’t posted in Today’s Finds for a long long time but I have to share this. Finally after Covid our detecting club had a hunt at an old farm that we’ve been to several times. During the past hunts colonial coppers, Spanish silver, and even a WILLIAM III shilling have come out of the ground there over the years but, I wasn’t expecting this. Although it’s extremely worn and damaged from years in the ground I found a 1805 Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle Half Dime. There is just enough detail to identify it. The second rarest of that mint, only 15,900 minted. In the photos I will include a good example from a coin website. A couple of the photos the coin looks very shiny because of the photo editing effects to help bring out the detail. Very exciting day for me yesterday.

Thanks for looking.

Oh Damn!
Wow.

I’d retire my detector if I found that.

Amazing coin find, don't get much older than that for american silver

Wow, that’s amazing. Great work!

Heck yeah!! Nice save.. Congrats :occasion14:

Congratulations! Thanks for saving another piece of American history.
UPDATE ON MY COMMENT: I should have voted banner when I made this original comment so, I apologize. It is a rare coin and it was in circulation during this nation's early beginnings. It needs to be up top for all to see.

I will have to throw out a banner nod for this one......don't clean it you will lose any detail left in the ghosting

What a thrill that must be...glad you were able to identify it....it looks razor thin...congratulations!

Congradulations thanks for showing the beautifull coin

That a Rare one!:occasion14:

As a person who collects half dimes by date, I can confirm that 1805 H10c really are quite rare. On any given day, you could search the internet and not even find one for sale. I once owned a damaged example that I sold, but I was never able to replace it with a certified coin.

Congrats on this find, and big-time. Believe it or not, it's the second 1805 H10c I've seen dug up on Treasurenet. You might want to search the archives and see if you can locate the other one.

Thanks for reply. That's interesting that you remember another on Treasurenet I'm looking forward to seeing that, hopefully in better condition than mine 8-)

Congrats on the rare one-makes for a great memory for many moons. :occasion14:
