I was searching for some old photo's online, but couldn't find any, but I grew up in Rapid City as a child and knew a very nice older lady who had lived there her whole life. I remember she used to show me pictures of the town back in the days, apparently it had burned down three times and then rebuilt and everytime it looked totally different. She showed me pictures of all the different changes. Since then she passed away and I have always wanted to get back up there, to check it out with a metal detector but don't think I will be going back any time soon. It is still a small town between Kalkaska and Traverse city, and not an upscale place at all, but it sure has a lot of history. I wish I had a metal detector back then. The surrounding area is pretty old also, "Torch Lake" one of the largest lakes in michigan besides the Great ones.

Hope this may help someone out,

Nitro

Are you referring to Williamston on 72? I am from Michigan, about a hundred miles south of their. I have been in that area quite a bit. Work for a company in Kalkaska. Give me a shout
