A thought just occured to me 
, as I was looking thru some rather crusted pennies and nickles last night. Instead of soaking the coins or other artifacts in oil, has anyone tried soaking then cleaning with one of those dental jets used to clean between your teeth with tiny jets of water. You could use a mild solution of vinegar and water instead of plain water and have the jets assit in the cleaning. This would clean wihtout damaging the coins...at least I think it would
