Raising the SpitFire ?

I think they should raise and preserve the Spitfire. An intact wooden wreck is quite rare, and this one has great historical significance for our country. The Vasa and Mary Rose, which were older and larger ships, were successfully raised and are still ungoing preservation.

You already have one boat like the Spitfire- the Philadelphia. Why not just build a replica and put the original cannons on it?

Since this is coming from a freshwater lake does that much really need to be done to conserve it?
