Rainy day won't stop me from huntin. Button, wheaties, & earring??

My brother and I hunted his front yard today. He owns a house built in the 1850s. Last year he had his front yard graded down approx. 6" to 10", revealing older clay soil. We went out today in the hard rain, pimping some trash bag ponchos (CLASSY!).

Found a Kendrick & Co. Button (circa 1840s?). On the back it says "Kendrick & Co, EXTRA." From the looks of it, it looks like a plain-jane civilian button. The button raises up a bit from the edges, then recesses down, then bubbles back up in the center. Anyone have any info on it?

Found a few wheaties (the most I've found in one session of hunting so far woohoo).

I also found what looks like a clip-on earring? Can anyone vouche for this? It's about the size of a quarter and looks quite old.

I was a bit disappointed that I didn't find any silver or old copper. :( But hey, there's always next time, right? Thanks for the help guys. Cheers all & HH

I forget the name but it's a type of old clasp/button, that clips & locks together.(with the broken part)

Thanks guys! It was a lot of fun. Getting that crazy itch to go out today.

Thanks crusader! Would this be early 1900s you think? Judging by your "stats" you seem to be a MD guru. :) Any thoughts on the button? It's a little smaller than a U.S. quarter, prob 5/8". Could it come off a coat? Been tryin to google it, but not comin up with anything similiar blehh
