Rain O'er Me!

I got out today with my friend Con, who just bought the new Vision ...I mean Spectrum. We hit a cellar hole that I finally found after numerous attempts. I had my DFX neatly wrapped in cellophane to protect it from the light rain. It was tough detecting, there was iron everywhere. I think we were not the first to detect the spot either. All I was able to pull out of the ground were some relics including parts of pewter spoons, part of a chandelier, the usual other stuff, and a beat up old 1889 Indian Head. After 3 hours of rain that was increasing in intensity as time went on, we decided to call it quits. As we got to the bottom of the steep slope leading away from the cellar hole, I got a strong 88 VDI at 2 inches. I called Con over to watch me dig it. He said "Beer can." I said, "I don't think so!" I was right! Out popped the 1946 Walker, only my second Walker. My first was found on May 6th 2008, almost a year ago to the day. A few inches away I dug the 2 Wheaties, also 1940 era. Apparently someone took a nasty spill 60 years ago as they were descending the hill!

This has been the week of the Walker on Tnet! I have seen a lot posted, more than I can remember in such a short period of time!

Thanks for looking!

Neil

Great find..

Re: Rain O'er Me!

Nice! It certainly pays sometimes to keep your detector on until the the last few seconds doesn't it? ;D

Yes, it does. But when the Spectra gets within 25 feet of the DFX, the DFX goes wild. But the Spectra does not seem to be affected by the DFX!

Nice walker!

Re: Rain O'er Me!

Nice hunt story. If that hill is steep there should be remnants of other stumblers.

Good advice McMurphi: I will be returning to this spot as soon as possible. Since I started focusing some of my attention to hillsides I have found some great coins, including two 19th century coppers for my efforts.

That's because the DFX is very scared of the Spectra. They're all going to get replaced by the new Spectra...aka "The Trophy Wife" ;D
