Railroad What's-It

I met a friend in a small TX town to do some arrowhead hunting on the ranch where he's staying. Rather than try and give me directions I was going to follow him. I had about 15 minutes to kill so I parked at the old train depot, which is now a public park, and detected an area where they have done some work on a water valve. On the outer areas of fresh dirt I found some older clad. When I got close to the valve I snagged a Barber quarter.
Within two feet of the quarter I dug the Santa Fe item.

Its 1"x1". The back looks like lead and the face looks like brass set into the lead. "Santa Fe" is reversed. Is this some type of seal or stamp? I googled but came up empty.

Don't know what else it can be but a stamp, since it's backwards.

A friend of mine looked at it a few minutes ago and suggested it might be part of a tool that sealed boxcars...so I googled and came up with this.

Lead Sealers | Railroad Collectibles

Would like something more definitive though.

Both the coin and stamp/seal are awesome finds. Gotta believe in that Shadow X2:thumbsup:

I can't find one, which suggests that it's rare.
