It appears to be cast iron. Kind of like a piece off a Hibachi grill

maybe, but it looks like it fits into another piece. hence the long stem on one end.

I'm thinking not track... maybe, but where would a long piece like that fit into? I think it was more industrial, like a vent grate, or like Tony said... hibachi or something

I think it is a grate out of a wood cook stove. You know out of the little fire box.

that grate looks like it came from a french drain, the stem would interlock in the next piece and continue from there

The grate is from a coal burning stove.I can see where its broken off.It had a lever or gear on the other end.Most likely broke off due to a klinker getting jammed.Good find :coffee2:
