Hi, The relic hunters Brion and Carolyn went exploring today and found some really interesting things near a train track. One of which seems to be an old mining car cog rail or something. Please help us find out what this stuff is! Also the smaller railroad spike seems to be hand crafted, it's alot lighter and much smaller, plus it's all bumpy and not straight and smooth.

The last 3 pictures are the same thing, only 5 inches was sticking out of the ground, we unburied the other 3 feet or so of it.

No help here but cool finds :)

That's cool, thanks for looking. Maybe we will find something that you know :)

Ah so it's just a smaller gauge one. That is most helpful, thank you.

I would never have guessed the last to be a wire fence post since its very very heavy and made fully of iron. Must be quite old.

Yeah rails use to be a little smaller than to day! the fence posts they make for wire fence is alot flimsier than back in the day! I have 2 that were with my house when I bought it! hey are solid iron

That "J" thing is used to hold the rail down, I believe. I live near a RR tracks and see things that look similar

We don't have those rails but I see a difference in them. I guess its all worth keeping?
