Railroad coin?

Tonight at work, I got a 1965 Dime, the front is scuffed
and the back is worn down, but everything is still
pretty legible. Not a very special coin in it's own right,
but it was really weird looking, and it took me a moment
to figure out why. The head and tail sides are larger than
the middle. Someone told me this is called a railroad
dime?

the center of the coin is "indented" all the way around so the
coin is a dime sized squashed "I". Im not sure how to explain
it better.

maybe a better description would be that the copper
portion of the dime isn't fully there. Like the silver
parts of the dime are sandwiching a fraction of the
copper/zinc that should be there.
I don't know if a pic will show up or not, but I'll try
and download one of the side.

okay, here's a side view, although since the center is
only off by a hair or two, it's not showing as
well as I had hoped. I had to put it in black and
white as that's the best result I was able to get.
I dunno, maybe someone put a penny between two
dimes on a track and a train smooshed em together.
But pennies, being larger than dimes, you'd think it
would be the copper/zinc portion that's wider than
the "silver" portions.

I have a few coins like that somewhere!! I will try and find them when I can. To me, I just thought that the copper inside just corroded differently and created that effect.

I still thought it was neat enough to keep though :) Nice find.

Strange looking dime for sure, almost looks like a copper sandwich

if it was a railroad strike, very little would be visible. looks more like someone placed it in a vise or a press
