The excavators are digging for new storm drains on the jobsite and like always I keep a close eye on the dirt coming out...
This thing popped out today, and since it has writing on it I figured I'd hang on to it

I haven't cleaned all the rust off yet but what I can read on it is "3817" stamped in on the left side .... "made by gooding(?) to fit B662(?)" to the right, "1921 PEN R" across the bottom
It measures 8x6 inches and is a bit over an inch thick with two "ears" that look like it hung from a bracket of some sort.
I thought rail related because it came from an area where a lot of railcars were washed away by a flood many years back, and I'm told that diggers at a nearby construction site a few years ago actually found boxcar parts buried in the silt
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated
