Radio Shack 3300 anyone water hunting?????

I have hunted in a few shallow creeks, I only let the water get an inch or two over the coil. I ended up finding a lot of RUSTY metal, I also had a hard time digging in creekbeds. I found a lot more stuff on banks of the creek. If drop the 3300 into the creek you are in trouble, I have had my 3300 get crazy on just a very damp day. I had to dry it out for 2 hours before I could use it again.

From looking at the cable on the coil I don't think it is waterproof.
I don't let my son dip the coil.

As per the BH website, all BH coils and coil cables are waterproof, unless of course you've managed to put a crack in the coil or a cut in the cable. I've hunted saltwater beaches with my 3300 in Florida submerging the coil as far as I could without getting the control box wet. BBJ

Ditto to above, just keep the box out and you'll be fine.
