Looks like a bezel or escutcheon that would go around a fan switch. How big is this thing and what kind of metal is it?

About 1 1/2 by 1 inch and maybe lead ? It's fairly heavy.

I think Cuda is right on it. Its a switch cover for a rheostat Not radio or window crank related. It clearly states low hi on the top.
