Quick night of dime hunting

Yuk. I'm not ready for those yet. Hope I get a few more months before I see the 2013 dimes.

Last year, solid 2012 dime boxes came in full force at this time... this year, there are 2013 dimes being circulated, but thankfully not in solid rolls, however, I am only 2 roosies in the last 11 dime boxes searched, with 2 more to do tomorrow.

I haven't found the 2013's yet but outta 5 boxes only to Roosies and they were all in the same box. Those numbers are way off. I wanna know what its going on. .

Man, I feel your pain... I am having the same situation... 2 roosies in the last 11 dime boxes, something is definitely up... I have 2 boxes to open later that have been sitting around for a week because I have no expectations that they will produce.

Seems the same everywhere for the low numbers on dimes. I think the reason is simply this- more and more people have hit the dimes hard in the past year or two. When I started on the forum a few years ago, there were a few who searched dimes, but most were searching halves.

I have seen a huge spike in the number of members searching dimes; and why not? I switched to dimes and hit them hard as while certainly a lot less per coin VS halves, the consistency was always there. So while halves were worth way more, my consistent dime finds each week made the math easy to do-- I was coming out far ahead by consistent dime finds than having a good box of halves but then going through 25 skunks after that one good box.

I'm sure this reasoning sounds familiar to many here. So as to why the dime finds have dwindled? Simple math. More and more people are pulling them out of circulation.

I search a large amount every week and there are times where I find myself muttering, "I should have ordered halves, the results are nearly the same now and they are worth more." I never thought I would see the day where the dime boxes were getting as skunky as the halves. That day is here for me and judging by the number of posts, I'd say it is here for many others as well.

MU, I think you are right about more hunters hitting the dimes hard. It's been pretty skunky. However, I have had some good boxes this year, including my best ever, 10 Rosie's. Also for whatever reason, TD sometimes has clear wrapped brinks rolls and they have been producing well. Skunk and sons, not so good.
