I got off of work this morning at 3am. Decided to break out the MD for a hour or so before going to bed. Changed clothes and headed out to a quick location that I've hit two times since getting permission. Pulled up and started digging, pulled my head phones up off my ears while digging my third target and heard the chain link fence on the side of the building shaking. I knew someone had crossed the fence, then the fence started shaking a second time indicating a second person jumping the fence.

I called my coworkers to come to my location and advised them of what I had heard. While waiting for my coworkers to arrive I switched out the MD for my side arm and pulled my badge from under my shirt. As my coworkers arrived the two suspects that were attempting to break into the building jump the fence again on the back side of the building where I was waiting for them.

Both subjects went to jail for attempted B&E, and my detecting time was limited to only about 5 minutes. I did find a 1972 -D Lincoln and a Reebok emblem that I need to clean up to see if its junk or a charm of some sort. Then I had to run to the office and type a supplement report on the two idiots that messed up my first hunt of February.

HH to all and stay safe while doing it,

Matt

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together like that! Good job! Keep it safe!

Ya life has a strange way of interfering with MD'ing! Glad your safe and it all worked out well. Hope the co. At lest gives you kudos for being in the right place at the right time!
Congrats on the cent, Reebok emblem, and 2 bad guys! Nice catch! Paper work is a pain!

Thanks Msbeepbeep, I feel that sometimes you are sent to certain places in life at a certain time for a reason. And yes paper work is awful. Lol Thats two less criminals I don't have to worry about tonight while I'm working. Next time I hit this location I hope I'm rewarded for protecting it.

Lol my plan did not involve going back to work, but it was a great catch. Anytime we can get people off the streets that are stealing is a great day.

At least your allowed a side arm and you have backup, I'm only protected by my cell phone. Your title pulled me right in, my first thought was it was going to be a story about how "you" got arrested, ha lol
Sorry your hunt got ruined! Maybe tomorrow?

cuffed and stuffed. Good job

nice done! :thumbsup:to bad fo short detecting :(

Hmmm that's a new one. You "detected" two large targets and then put them " in a hole" and then " dug through" some paperwork!

A lot of LEOs are bad mouthed regardless of what they do. And of course a few actually are rotten apples. The 'good' ones deserve a world of praise and are appreciated by most law-abiding citizens. Your actions are greatly appreciated and hope you have a better outing next time you go MDing!

Now, that, is a stake out with an interest! ;)

Sounds like I'd like to be hunting with you. Need a partner? LOL

Book 'em, D.... Nawww, I won't go there.

But, "Be careful out there!" ;)

Good job!! Yes it is funny how things happen. It is a good thing you were carrying a side arm and was there to stop the crime. Thank you for putting yourself on the line for us law abiding citizens kudos to you.

Thanks everyone for the pat on the back. That is something rarely done to Law Enforcement Officers. I ask each one of you to take a moment next time you see one of us to take a second of your time to thank them for their service. If you want to look at a website that will make chills run down your spine, please take a moment to look up the National Law Enforcement Memorial site. Its a United States fallen officer page. Each of us are loved by many and hated by twice as many.

Thanks again to each of you for your kind words and thoughts,

Matt

You are exactly right texasred777, every department has a few rotten apples, we work very hard to police our own. I'm known by many at my department as the hanging Seargent. Lol as long as my crew does their job the right way they have nothing to worry about. It only takes one bad officer to give all departments a bad name.

It's understandable. The love, from people who realize you stand in-between them and those who prefer to just let them work for a living so they can just walk up and take it from them.

The hate, is from those who have never grown up and don't like the idea of anyone keeping them from simply having their way! (Stomp, stomp! Slam!)

My thanks to you and all like you. I tip my hat to every officer I see, every day!

I posted on a case a few weeks ago that is ongoing at this time and deleted some of my profile info before doing so to keep my location under wraps. After this investigation is complete ( hopefully in the next few weeks) I will update my profile again. Anyone close to my location or wants to visit my location is more than welcome to PM me and I will do my best to meet up for a day or two of MDing.

Oh, I said that, but usually everyone else in the world is too far away for me. LOL Still, might be nice.

Stay safe!
