I got a call late today from my son asking if I wanted to go out for the last two hours of daylight, I said sure, and off we went. We decided to go to the small homestead I found earlier this week that I got the Iron Trivet, two buttons and a 1822 Large Cent at.
I knew the site was very small and overgrown, but since it was only a ten minute walk from where we parked we did go there.
My son was using his ACE 250 today, since it is good for walking the old stage roads and I was using my trusty ole Explorer XS. It is nice to compare signals, which we have been doing for over twenty years now. I must say the ACE 250 was excellent in picking up everything my XS did this afternoon. The buckle with the rust, read the same way on the 250 as my XS, which tells me, it is a darn good machine.
OK, my son got only stove parts and some nice blue stone wear ceramic pieces. I was a tad more lucky in that I did get the buckle and two more buttons from the site. It is amazing that buckle is chuck full of iron but yet both detectors "read it" as maybe a coin, no iron tone at all, whick is good.
Overall, a nice two hour hunt despite nothing spectacular being found today.
