So my son and I didn't get out last week and we had to "sneak" out this weekend. (Finals week for him with mom saying no going out cause of homework) Well, I didn't hear that one this week so we just went with it.....
We figured it was just the 2 of us so we decided to hit the area my buddy and I grid searched about 3 weeks ago. We changed some settings on the Deus machines to see if we could find something a little deeper and go "SLOW". Well I say it certainly worked out. I'm using the 9 inch coil and he has the 11 inch.
Mind you my buddy and I grid searched using a string and we found a lot of coins and relics on our last outing. This time I started walking a different direction with my son zig-zaging in front of me. I see him digging; then digging some more; and next I know he has a crater dug out! I'm thinking this is going to a long day but he just yells out "MERC". I walk over and sure enough he gets the first silver for the day. A nice 45-S! The photo with his pin-pointer shows how deep it was.
So along we go and find another 19 Wheats (son had 10) and he gets another 45-P Merc along with a cool large eagle butting with a post. I think it was used on a hat. Then he found the silver hair clip marked sterling on the back. I managed a 45-S Merc and a 46-D Rosie. I must admit I didn't think we would get much but wow. Think I might have to get the 11 inch coil for X-Mas
Take care and good luck you all!!!
