So my son and I didn't get out last week and we had to "sneak" out this weekend. (Finals week for him with mom saying no going out cause of homework:censored:) Well, I didn't hear that one this week so we just went with it.....:laughing7:

We figured it was just the 2 of us so we decided to hit the area my buddy and I grid searched about 3 weeks ago. We changed some settings on the Deus machines to see if we could find something a little deeper and go "SLOW". Well I say it certainly worked out. I'm using the 9 inch coil and he has the 11 inch.

Mind you my buddy and I grid searched using a string and we found a lot of coins and relics on our last outing. This time I started walking a different direction with my son zig-zaging in front of me. I see him digging; then digging some more; and next I know he has a crater dug out! I'm thinking this is going to a long day but he just yells out "MERC". I walk over and sure enough he gets the first silver for the day. A nice 45-S! The photo with his pin-pointer shows how deep it was.

So along we go and find another 19 Wheats (son had 10) and he gets another 45-P Merc along with a cool large eagle butting with a post. I think it was used on a hat. Then he found the silver hair clip marked sterling on the back. I managed a 45-S Merc and a 46-D Rosie. I must admit I didn't think we would get much but wow. Think I might have to get the 11 inch coil for X-Mas:laughing7:

Take care and good luck you all!!!

Nice fun hunt there! A little bit bigger coil can make a difference and so can a swinging in a different direction. Way to go guys!

Holy cow, the deus went deep for that Merc. The large military piece goes to a service cap and the buttons are from a Class A jacket. Sorry to hear you haven't been getting out that often, I was wondering why I haven't seen you post much lately. Hope you get what you want for Christmas.

Nice results for the hunt.
The soils still look dry or is just the photo of the pinpointer sitting in the hole? Looks like there's still finds down in the dirt even after grid hunt was done, and it bumps up the Deus want another rung on the ladder. :)

Glad that you were able to sneak out. Nice looking set of finds, as usual.

Best of luck to you and the boy!
