Dantheman and I got out for about an hour this afternoon which is remarkable given that blasted daylight savings time - gets dark now at 5:30pm >:(

Dan had a nice site lined up and if it wasn't for his research, no one would be finding this site. This old homesite is basically entirely gone - with just a very subtle path leading up a hill. This stuff was deep.

The buttons blew me away. I got a couple of high fives for those.

I thought the mason jar lid was interesting because you can see that the letters "RR" are scrawled on top of it - (what does it stand for?) red raspberrys? thought that was a nice personal item to see the homeowners handwriting.

Some GREAT relics there--those Eagles are Always a welcome find. Sounds like you're getting in the swing of things up there. :)

Interesting initials in the canning jar lid. Could be that some neighbor named Robert Robertson gave somebody some canned beans across the fence once upon a time. :P

Nice digs on those buttons. Those are great. The RR stands for the first Rolling Rock beer made. LOL.....jgas

we make homemade jelly every year, blackberry = bb, elderberry = eb, peach = p, plus we add the year so we don't mix them up from other years.

I am sure the RR means it was a relative of RiverRat! lol VERY nice finds there and too cool to have the homeowner's writing even if it is just initials scrawled on a lid! Congrats!

Those buttons are junk, just toss them out... ::) NOT !!!!!!!!!

Really really really nice finds! Keep up the great work.

Hey Ian....3rd form the last pic look's like a bridle rosette, anything on the face of it ? Sweet job on the button's and other relic's

Nice digs Ian! Those Eagle buttons are definitely some oldies.
Looks like they have backmarks.?
Any confirmation on age/orgin.

Thanks for all the replies! These buttons amazed me. I haven't really found that type of thing before, since we have no real civil war history here in my neck of the woods. I am going to hit the site hard this weekend and see if there are any more there
