Quick hunt after work, found a buckle, need help

Talked to my neighbor a month ago about detecting on his property across from my driveway. I know that 16,000 troops came up my road during the Civil War heading to Front Royal. He told me "no problem", and that there was an old house that had stood on the property years ago and where it was. I had been wanting to hit this area, but this was my first opportunity to do so. By the time I got home from work this evening, I had about an hour left of daylight. As I worked towards the spot, I hit many signals and was digging lots of trash. In the yard, I dug an old Hubley Diesel tractor (child's toy) that's pretty cool. After researching it, I found it dates back to the 1950's. Close to where he'd said the house was, I dug the iron buckle and about 6 feet away, another buckle I can't identify in Crouch's Book. Hoping one of you might recognize what it is, and if it dates back to the Civil War. The other small item in the pictures I thought was a pistol bullet, but after cleaning it I'm not sure what that is either. Maybe the the clapper from a bell or a sinker???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not bad for a short hunt Todd. The buckle looks like a carbine sling buckle to me on page 193 in Crouch's book. Maybe BUCKLEBOY can tell us for sure. If it's not a carbine sling buckle ,I would say it's maybe a cinch buckle from a saddle. You have an iron Springfield gun tool also. If you took Dman and I with you, we could I.D. relics right after you dig them and save time-LOL. HH Buddy.

The lead thing looks like a fish sinker with the ring broke off. Congrats on all the finds. HH.....

Great gun tool! That is certainly a CW find. Now the buckle... :icon_scratch: It looks like a sling buckle...is it plated?

Buckleboy, I tried cleaning it more to see if I could find any markings on it but can't see any. I't could be plated but I'm almost thinking it's brass the way it's starting to clean up. Affraid to clean it to much though... I posted another picture of it after I cleaned it a little more!

It looks like a sling buckle to me also. Good luck finding more CW relics at that site. I believe the lead ball is a sinker.

Nice finds

Looks to be cw or a little earleir than that on the buckle. That one is slightly different than the one's I find. They usually have sharp teeth to them.

I have never seen a gilded sling buckle. :-\

Buckleboy, I wasn't sure about the buckle but I just took a toothbrush to another area that looked like it might flake off when I rubbed it and as I did the gold showed through, I'm starting to think it's solid brass...

I also do not think the central "tongues" are wide enough for it to be a sling buckle. Nor should there be "grooves" in the central post which indicate that there were originally more than two tongues on it. I am leaning towards 20th c. on the buckle.

But the gun tool is Spot-On.

Buckleboy is right on the teeth and the bar on the buckle and the gun wrench. I'm leaning toward the 20th century on that buckle as well. Mainly because of the narrow teeth plus the center bar has the grooves in it. As far as I know that's something not commonly seen on pre1900 buckles

Congrats on that cool looking buckle TC.
Hubley must have been the king of toy making back in old days. Seems like that's all I find. Maybe Tootsie Toy came after Hubley?

Congrats on the finds.

I'm not sure about the buckle. I have found 2 of the carbine sling buckles and mine are different than that. I'm not saying that yours isn't, but it is different than mine.

Here is a couple of pics of the ones that I have found for comparison.
