I'm a new member on this forum, brand new to water hunting, just purchased a Whites BHID 9.5 inch coil not the 300 although I am going to send it in for the upgrade. I did check my seal, it is the orange one so I should be good to go. I also need to get a long handled S.S. scoop. I also have an F70, Ace 250 for land use. Been detecting for about 6 years or so, anxious to try the water scene out. I live on the west coast of florida, the "Nature Coast" as they call it. I will be hunting both freshwater and salt water as I am blessed to be able to work and play near both. I do have one question about my BHID, the coil that came with it is all black with 2 little whites stickers on it ???. All the ones I see are either yellow w/black stickers, or black with yellow stickers, or all yellow, all say BHID. Just want to know how many models they made. Look forward to learning from all of you. Good luck,

I am not sure on the older ones? Are you sure that coil is 9.5 inch coil and not the 12" spider coil (black)
Can you take a photo of it?

FloridaBill, It is the 9.5 inch black concentric coil with hole in the middle. It's not the new black or yellow spider coil. I googled Whites Beach Hunter Id, then went to images and there are a few photos of the one like mine. This detector was bought new in 2007 because I just transferred the warrenty on it to my name. I have seen that Whites likes to change coil colors. I think mine may be one of the early black ones before they chaged the coil so you can see it underwater. Thanks again,
Mike

Welcome to Tnet! Looking forward to all the goodies you'll be digging up.

Do not skimp on a scoop, get a good one. The bigger the mouth the better typically. And coil color is minor, as long as it works, I dont care what color it is. If pink coils are cheaper, send me one ;D.

If you have questions, we have answers, so feel free to ask. It might be wise to browse the older posts to see if anyone else has asked your question already.

OK Narthoniel hit it on the nose and usually the water is too murky or I am so deep I can't see my coil anyway.
