Found a new hole out on a hike with my pal Maxie. The site was along a seasonal road that runs between a steep mountain and river. The hole was right near the base of the hill with the road in front . I figured most of the activity would be on the flat ground across from the road down to the river. It quickly became apparent that the house location was chosen so they wouldn't get flooded every spring. Being near the road found a bunch of modern junk and the .22 shells were brutal! Did manage a few keepers but it was pouring rain so I kind of cruised through quickly. The three cent piece is my first and is dated 1853. Took me a while to find it even with my pin pointer. Never can find enough crotal bells and this was my smallest to date. I'll hit the area better later. Thanks for looking.

Wow, awesome 3 cent piece. Love the crotal bell as well. Sounds like a killer spot. Congrats.

Thanks I am amazed at the variety of sizes crotal bells were made. I find a few whole bells but most are broken most likely by being stepped on by the cow or oxen that they fall off. And yes I will put this spot on my list to go over more thoroughly. Take care.

WTG on the Trime!

Thanks makes me wonder how many of those dinky coins were lost. And how many us detectorists pass over. It literally took me three or four minutes to find it in a small clump with my pinpointer!

Nice finds yeah those three centers are tough to locate

That is so cool, great finds!
