Just wondered how many of you may have bought bags from the counting machines and if
your success rate was better or not, from rolls or boxes. I'm referring to halves primarily, Are the
tellers reluctant to sell bags ? Thanks to any who can help ! Gregory, Santa Fe.

When filled, the bags are sent to be rolled and put in boxes so its all the same. The only advantage of bags is that they are slightly less likely to be someone's dumps unless that particular bank is a dump bank for someone. Boxes are primarily searched and dumped only to be returned to be rerolled into the next box. A bag may sit there for months to years if the bank is not a dump bank slowly collecting halves from various sources.

Basically what is better will depend on your luck. In some areas boxes are better and in other areas bags will be better.

A bag has a better chance of having a whole collection as all the bags get mixed up when re rolled in lots of 50k at a time.
I try to stop bags before they got o the fed in this district. that way I know I got what was local.

True, but a bag also has a pretty darn good chance of being someone's dump. Just think of all the bags that were filled from the forum member that cashed in something like $12,000 in halves. :)

So back to your question, I'd say its about a 50/50 chance that you get a good bag vs. a bad bag. You may score big or you may get skunked. If you don't try though, you'll never know!

You know.......its too bad we can't get one of those metal tubs from the newer coin counters. That would definitely break GMan's single day coin record. ;D

I think you probably could but you'd have to buy the whole tub. Just have to find the right bank. The harder part is having the right transportation to get the tub into a vehicle.

From the tubs I have seen filled they see to be between $3500 and $5500 when full.

I would respectfully disagree.
Its pretty easy to ask the tellers how long it takes to fill a bag, when they say. "oh yeah, a guy comes in every week and we fill bags weekly" I dump there too. However even this, if a silver depositor strikes your dump, those coins will end up with the dumps...making them "non dumps"

If they say something like. "oh, about every 8 months" or, "golly, we have never sent it in since I have worked here"
I fill and buy the bag, and buy it, or if they let me buy it for whats in there. I do. And always do well.
No way am I going to let good stuff go too the fed to be rerolled and mixed with dumps if I can help it!!!

Some of my best scores have been mixed with "Dumps"

it just means you have to sort though smaller CRHs dumps. Keep in mind, not every CHR may have the bank roll some of us have and use. I have found banks that have had over $3k in halves, and I got em all, and did well, yeah, a lot of barren rolls, But also some fully loaded rolls of silver too.
Glad I didnt skip over those "dumps"
