Question on NIFC's
I'm curious in terms of NIFC Kennedy halves. I notice that in some years, one mint will make more NIFC's than the other. I wonder why they do that. For example, last year they minted 1.8 million Philadelphia halves and 1.7 million Denver halves. I always thought they have even amounts of them so they can sell them both at one time to collectors. Is it possible that they kept the extra 100,000 coins at the federal reserve in case one day they do need them for circulation? Eventually, with orders coming in and more CRHers, banks will turn to federal reserve for new coins. Anyone have thoughts on why there's a discrepency with the mintage figures for two mints on NIFC halves?
