Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

the Other day DKinPA gave me a Digital Camera.

FujiFilm FinePix 2600 Zoom 2.0

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2001_reviews/fuji2600_pg2.html

In the online Owners Manual it says

Alkaline batteries should only be used in an
emergency. Note the following when using alkaline
batteries:
iThe battery terminals should be wiped clean with a
clean, dry cloth.
iAlways switch the LCD monitor off (➡P.22) before
using alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries cannot be
used in Manual mode, Macro mode or Movie mode.

Reason ? do Recharbles last longer in them ?
Or are Alkalines too Strong ?

Re: Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

I wouldn't think alkaline's were too powerful :-\...1.5 volts vs 1.25 volts. The link you posted says it comes with a set of NiMH batteries and a charger and that alkaline's can be used or an optional ac power supply.

It could be that alkaline's can leak and if put in the camera with the charger can do damage to the camera since it's trying to charge them.

Re: Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

I did wonder if that was what they were trying to say.
but wern't clear on that fact.

Plus it says the Zoom & Macro won't work with Alkalines which confuses me.
I havn't learned how to use them yet anyway.

I didn't get the charger, just the camera
But can charge batteries through my scanner.

Thanks !

Hahaha I Wish I could Edit those Suckers out My yard Perminately.

Alot of people around here Cook & Eat The Leaves.
Never tried them but they Gotta be Bitter as h--- .

Maybe I should see if their is a Market for them

Re: Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

Actually the little ones are pretty good. As they get older and get all the white sap, they turn more bitter.

Nick, I got some Duracell's from Wal-Mart and they were the 2650 mAh. A pack of 8 were $20 or you could get a pack of 4 plus the charger for the same price.

cool That saves Me mowing for another Month :D

Re: Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

Alkaline batteries do not perform as well as NiMH batteries in high drain applications, such as a digital camera w/ LCD on. NiMHs will also charge your flash faster.

I did notice it seemed to shut down Quicker during inactivity
with alkalines then it did with recharables.

Re: Question on Digital Cameras & Batteries

Hi Jeff the alkaline batteries are too stong for the Fugi
only use what the manufactor suggested according to
the MANUAL, and never leave the camera in the HEAT!

It's not that they're too strong, rather the opposite. Although they have a higher rating, this is only true in low current applications. At high current draw, the internal chemistry is such that alkalines can't maintain a useable voltage for very long.
