For the guys in the U.S., I know Europe could be much deeper.
What is the average depth that you are discovering gold and silver coins?
Rough estimate.

I'm imaging about 6 inches. Is that correct?
Average around 6 inches but I dug my one and only reale at 12"

I recently posted that in 1998, I found a silver dollar that was lost in 1960. It was at 6" after 38 years in the ground. My oldest quarter was an 1857 that was at 10".

For the gold it was only 4-5"

For silvers I've dug them at an inch and at 10"
LCs from laying just under the leaf litter to 14".
It's all site dependent really. The type of soils, drainage, traffic, hay vs cropped fields.

I've found a few 1700's half reales and none were deeper than 4 inches. Found an 1824 capped bust half dollar at 5 inches. But I've found 1950's Jefferson nickels that were 10 inches down, so you never know...
