Found what I believe is an indian head today.
At first I thought it was a button because the sand and soil buildup is so thick and rounded. So I threw it into the pouch writing it off as an old coat button.
Anyway, what is the best way to get it looking like something. I can barely see a date.
The sand is built up and actually welded to the coin.

Soak in olive oil for weeks?

I put a bunch of pennies in Olive oil about 10 years ago.
Sold my big house, bought a smaller house and never took a lot of the finds from back then out of the boxes.
I hunted down that box with all the old Mason Jars, found the 1 with the Olive oil and Pennies in it.
The Pennies came out of a Lake so they were heavily incrusted.
I pulled 4 Pennies out of the jar and cleaned them up just a little bit.
They do not look to bad.
Note to Self!!!
Take that Mason Jar and the rest of the Pennies out back somewhere and BURY IT.
The Smell will knock you Out.
