question for y'all

Do you ever find stuff while out detecting and give it to complete strangers, if so what kind of strange looks do you get.

The reason I ask is I hunt the beaches on the emerald coast, and the other night I found a new hot wheels car in the sand. I put it in my pouch and about an hour later I saw a mother with her son. I asked if she minded if i gave it to him. She did not know what to think. I told her that I dont have any kids and have no need for it. She said thank you as did her son, who was very polite. Then they went on their way.

Oh yeah - I do that, too. A few weeks ago I was searching a playground when a young family stopped by. I asked the Dad if it was ok to give his son the rubber ball I'd just uncovered - and they both went away very happy. But, yesterday? I was dirt fishing another playground and when this adorable little girl who had latched onto me during my exploration asked if she could have the dime I'd just found - I shook my head and said, "No, honey, I've got to keep that one"! It was only a dime - but hey! I'm keepin' my clad!

Kids swarm me at parks sometimes! Last week I was woodchipping and a little girl was following me around. After about 10 min's
she was saying stuff like " That's a false signal!!! you got to close to the slide!!!" Every time I got a signal about 6 kids dove on it and started throwing woodchips everywhere, But it was fun. Found a little silver heart pendant, and gave it to little girl, She ran around showing it to everyone, what a day for her.

I usually let a child watching me help in recovering a coin and give it to him/her. They usually act real excited when they see the coin in the dirt.

When I get a child audience I usually give them my finds also but I'll tell them that it's mine if it's silver or jewelry. Typically I'll take turns with them. Happy Hunting. Dan

I tried to hunt a grade school, and after a minute a little chubby kid came out of the woods and asked if he could help. 10 seconds later he dug up a giant horseshoe. So he helps out for a few minutes and another littler chubby kid comes out of the woods? They actually fought over who got to dig next, saying things like heyyyy you dug the last one its my turn. Next thing I know 2 more kids come from the woods, then 3 more. I finally had to ask what is in the woods and are there more out there. The little kids informed me there was a clubhouse back there and they wanted me to detect it, but by this time I was getting bored and overloaded with youngn's. I gave them everything we found (no change) and I think a few of them are surely hooked. There is really something to be said about showing people how much junk is just beneath the surface. good luck and hh
