Question for whites users ref: VDI

Re: Question for white's users ref: VDI

Depends on the size and how pure the ring is. Most silver rings I have found with
the XLT have shown up around 59 - the high 80s hope this helps. Get a few different
sizes and lay them in the yard go over them and you will get a good idea of what they
will register. With a good silver content ring the vid # should not fluctuate up or down
more than a couple of numbers. This could vary depending on how the ring is buried.

Do like XLT says, I've gotten some low reading ones in the past myself.

Re: Question for white's users ref: VDI

I agree with this, some silver will come in low on VDI 60's and up
also remember if the ring is cracked or broken it will not read nearly as high.
you can test this if you have an old ring to spare.. and cut it open at one place and check the
reading open and closed, gold does the same thing, but it is almost impossible to detect a gold ring
that has a crack or is open somewhere on the band.

Re: Question for white's users ref: VDI

I just found a man's (thick) sterling siliver ring with my XLT. The VDI registered in the 80s. I found it in the sand of Jupiter FL. The XLT identified the ring as a quarter.

I dig almost any solid signal. Any solid reading above 25. A lot has to do with the tone also.
