My sister has an antique/collectible shop and has people bring in stuff all the time to trade or sell.......A man came in last Saturday and had a box of stuff that he said belonged to his grandma & grandpa. He was cleaning out their house and needed some bill money, so my sis bought the stuff from him for about $40. There were some Hull Pottery vases and some other stuff as well as about 25 marbles. He said the marbles were his grandpa's when he was young. Some of the marbles look kinda old, but we aren't marble savvy and were wondering if y'all could help us out? There is one really big one---blue & white swirled---is this called a shooter?

And a cork screw looking one: IMG_5578 (776x800).jpgIMG_5579 (798x800).jpgIMG_5580 (771x800).jpgIMG_5581 (800x534).jpg
Then a yellow one with blue & black ribbons:IMG_5582 (800x534).jpgIMG_5583 (800x534).jpgIMG_5584 (800x534).jpgIMG_5585 (800x534).jpg
Here they are next to a ruler(inches) so you can see the size:IMG_5572 (800x458).jpgIMG_5573 (800x464).jpg

I've got some more I need to post, but wanted to start with these first......thanks in advance for any help!!!

These marbles shown in your pics resemble new contemporary marbles. That doesn't mean they don't have some worth. Post the rest of the marbles if you can. Paul :)

Thanks Paul!!

Thanks for the help-----I can't find any initials on them, Duffy, so we'll just write them off as being newer marbles.

The last ones are from the 70s. I was the marble king at my school.

Thanks rock. I wouldn't know a new marble from an old---they all look the same to me :) .
I have been metal detecting in my mom and dads yard and find marbles all the time---the kids that used to live there must've been shooting them in sling shots because they are scattered all over that yard.

Yeah I can coffee cans full of them. The big ones I used for the kill of the smaller ones. We use to play everyday before school started. I got to be so good that when people saw me coming they would leave. lol
