I've been able to pull silver with my F-70 usually a high range 70-85 on the VDI scale, but no gold. What is the usual VDI range for gold?I want to make sure I dont have it notched out.Any help will be appreciated.

gold can range all over the place, depending on karat, size and density. Very small gold can read as low as 17/18, and can easily go as high as pull tabs or even copper pennies on the scale. there is no magic VDI for it. If you want all the gold your coil runs over, you literally have to dig every target UNDER you coil. I was lots of help wasnt I?

i dig mostly by sound in monotone if its a coin my f-70 usually will stay within 3 vdi numbers no matter which direction i sweep.the small amount of rings i have dug did the same no gold yet though.dig it all to be sure

If you're busy looking for gold in an even lightly trashed park, get to like canslaw, pulltabs and screw caps. You'll be keeping company with them very often. Chains will come in bouncy, very weak, very low conductively. Rings will come in fairly solid, as toddsant states.
