I was out hunting a few days ago, and lay the machine down to dig for a target. All of a sudden the dang machine started sounding off, and wouldn't stop. It just kept sounding off until I turned off the machine and turned it on again. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I wonder if I should send the thing in to garrett and have them check it over.

I believe this question was asked several weeks back. The answers concluded that when the batteries are weak, this will sometimes happen. Maybe others can give you more insight. That's just what I remember.

Yeah ya gotta keep full batteries in the little lady, but thats a small price to pay outta the millions of clad your gonna be findin. Also if this happens look up could be high voltage wires overhead and or thunderstorm headed your way. Consider it a public service announcment from God to get the HecK outta that feild wit the lightning rod in yer hands.. :D

I have noticed when I'm at 2 bars of power it will false some. I have also layed my detector coil right on top of a large target and the detector sounds like a telephone going off. All normal responses. Keep swinging.

When the battery indicater gets to half...change em...I have also set mine down right on top of another coin and it went crazy. I don't think you need to send it back.

No sir. The bratteries are brand new.
I put them in fresh and the Battery Bar is full.
Its only happened twice so maybe its nothing
to worry about. Maybe
I should call Garrett and explain.

i thought it was the battries as i was having the same problem what i done was turn the sensitivity down 2 clicks and all was fine then just pop it back up hope that helps

Once i had the same problem...turned off, out/in the batteries and never heard more.

ACE rocks!!

Mine seems to go crazy just before and during a cell phone call.

I have had to pull a battery out a couple of times just after i purchased it to get it to shut up, since the on/off button would not work during its crazy episodes.

Two basic maintenance issues to always consider.
1. Static electricity - a soapy bath for the coil and stem will solve this.
2. Dirt/dust in the connector - regularly unplug and blow out and clean the prongs of the connecting cord at the base of the machine.
Clean the battery connection area regularly too.

Good luck with it!!
