Question about a ring

I found a ring looks silver and it is stamped 10 K Z with a line through the middle of the Z.. Any ideas? Gold ,silver maybe filled or plated..

as I have expierienced the 10k means 42%gold(white gold in your case.The Z you describe is likely the makers mark

I have seen the line across the Z used to distinguish it from the number 2...if that is any help.
