With the shape, it certainly looks like natural quartz. Nice find!

Yes beautiful quartz crystal. Yes it looks like glass because quartz is nature's glass(same material).

There are locales in NH where they are found, Moat Mt. being one of them and many other spots in the Mount Washington valley. Other like-varieties in that area include smokey quartz and amethyst.

Specimens are often found in the river bottoms of steep mountain valleys when exposed pockets wash out during heavy rains. In some cases you can actually hike up a washout and discover more specimens or even the pocket itself.

That is a very nice specimen you have there!

Thank you to all for your information. I will take another trip over to that area and scout around a bit. Maybe there are some more pieces lying around there. Now that you told me about quartz lying in river bottoms I'm guessing that it washed out of the river during the past two springs when the river flooded over the entire area. Thanks again 8)
