Pat the 1st pict looks like a ton o copper in clay ... id love a sample o that , 2nd one is interesting.. but the 3rd is rose quartz with bull quartz and slight mineralization. good mineralization ... all arround... dig in a little deeper if you can get away with it..lol

thanks dusted you here is the sample from a blue green clay..fine black sand,in the bull quartz as i dig i found this rock with some so many iron rusting and the third one is this one upclose

It looks like a fossil on the rock did you notice where it looks like a shell above the black crack area. Are there gold specs in the black sand that you panned? its hard to tell from pic. Maybe dusted can tell you more about the rock it looks very mineralized/oxidized.

yes i noticed that..its pure black sand no colors yet.yes im still waiting for him to identify the photos.

cool thought it looked tropical and the 3 wheel car had me wondering thanks.

yeah thats one source of our transportation here the locat ATV..lol!im using that to explore more of the mountain side to look for clues/indications of gold bearing rocks because there is no one ever explore/search for au in this sierra madre yet..except me.so just bear with for asking a lot of questions..

No problem ask away Ill help when I can but I'm still learning too, that's why I love all the earth sciences so much new to learn everyday.

thanks..and by the way i forgotten that someone already explored this mountain but not for mining but for treasures.treasure hunters explore this area for the yamashita treasures gold bars..they found a big old eagle carve on a rock near a waterfall and dig and operate the other way.crazy.they found nothing..the investor lose his mind.the big eagle carving is still there.if someone with a metal detector use it there they might find it if thats true.but im not after that.im loving geology and ill stick with it.i just need to do a lot of research.

"treasure is all around us,you just need to know where to look"

Haha that's funny about the treasure hunters losing there mind or a little sad I guess lol anyways there is a meteor fall confirmed in the Sierra Madre mountain area and a detector might be helpful for finding that, I'm on my phone can't post link easily but I'll edit it in later.

ok found it I think meteorite: http://www.mindat.org/loc-241456.html

those black sands (pict #1 ) are insane... that's a good return on it i would look to go down below the black sands and try to get to bedrock.. it can be a dig and a half.
picture # 2 is limestone with calcified shells in it .. dont be discouraged there the iron in it is from pyrite! its just leaching out with salty air.

charmouth_fossil_21.jpggold_bug.jpg
these are examples of Pyrite Seashell and a Gold Bug (aka trilobite) ... I have found both.

picture 3 is limestone also... is there any Shale near to it? ie probably below it?? .. Zwarte_schalie.jpg

zwarte shale is found world wide and contains high amounts of gold platinum and other mineralizations.. (its basically compressed dried burnt oil shale.)

on the black sands.. well if you see any gold in them you can use magnets (rare earth are best) to clean it out, and in some cases you can use sulfuric acid to "Eat" the ferite away (it wont eat gold)
but use caution doing this and .. pan / magnet whenever possible.. the gold will sink even if its in that sand.. you might loose micro gold .. but getting it out is a bugger so save your black sands off to the side till you have 100's of pounds.

yeah i got a bucket of black sand.i didnt see any shale around maybe i need to dig deeper..you got a nice pyrite shell and gold bug.there some i else i found a horse shoe and this rock with like small crystals around it.

lots of copper and iron (good mineralization) some quartz on the bottom end. that wouls be at the least a break it up into chunks and see whats flowing thru it.. then a crush and grind then pan... nice rock there.. was it close to the black sand?

yes and this kind of rock was all over the place..

Here's a page that might help, if you click on the different minerals you can look at pics, sometimes a mineral can look different depending on location etc so look at a few examples of each, also search Wulfenite I think its in the area your at and a very collectible mineral. If you look at the terrain version of the map on page linked you'll see the example occurance is at the low point in the area at a bend in a valley, I don't think it's a coincidence. I would try and get to the lowest spots near you in the valleys and test there. You can also click on localities nearby at the bottom of link. Also try searching names of spots near you, sometimes the exploration has been done for you and just not mined, claimed or commercially viable yet. Check local laws to make sure you won't get in trouble for small scale mining which I'm sure you did I just wanted to be mention that. Good Luck
