That thing is killer. Someone smarter then me will be along to tell you what it is.

We found a lot of this sort of thing in the Ozarks in norther Arkansas. That and the black widows under them.

Is it petrified?
It’s hard to tell, but I’ve seen petrified wood and it doesn’t seem to resemble it. It does almost seem like it’s folded over on itself in places.

I’d assume there was another mineral like sandstone that washed away that left all the holes and grooves.

I tried a pin pointer, nothing metal in here.

I wonder if it isn't petrified brain coral. Instead of thinking it is a quartz mix it looks like it is possibly opalized. It is an awesome piece.
