Looks like a big "Herkimer Diamond" quartz crystal to me. A big version of the ones I posted in the rock forum. Yes, it is naturally faceted like that. Nice!!!

Determination might depend on where you found it. I grew up in Charleroi, PA and there used to be a Corning Glass plant there. My Mother spent hours and hours collecting waste glass of all shapes, sizes, and colors; some as large as your piece. That was my first thought when I saw the photo. Hope this helps.

Yup Quartz, seems like you also have partly smokey quartz or citrine. Hard to tell...

That is quite a find. I have lotsa quartz and they each have their own special powers. Most of the stones that size have significant value. Did it come from the Quachita Mtns. in Arkansas? There are many mines there and folks come from all around to find their special stones. There is one on display in a famous church in NYC that came from Mt Ida, Arkansas.--Quartz Capital of the World.

If there is a geologist around here the quick I.D. would be forthcoming as the large crystals are usually found in underground mines in pockets called "vugs". I received some similar to this from a mine geologist but the material was called Florite. I guess it quite a thrill underground when they drill into one of these Vugs.

Very nice. The crystal point is what is called a termination. Typical quartz crystal is rhombohedral and is 6-sided prism ending in 6-sided pyramid. Crystals with a point on either end is double terminated. Very nice crystal. Wherever it came from, guarenteed, there are more. These grow in pockets in the earth...crystal structures like this and geodes are formed when gases get trapped into a pocket in the earth, heated, cooled, and depending on the components, will decide on the mineral that would come out. Crystal like this always grow in clusters.

Quartz is one of the most common minerals in the earth.
You have a very nice specimen.
