Ok..i recently acquired this quan yin statue from a friend of mine...I have wanted it for years ...so...I now discover there is something inside of it...my friend told me that he had gotten it from an old Chinese women in New Orleans and did not know the contents inside the statue...it was a mystery to him...I think it to be bronze and somewhat old...? What would you put into a Quan Yin Statue....at a dead end road on this Issue.....

The best way to tell if it is brass or bronze is the smell test. With clean hands, rub the statue between your thumb and fore finger, then smell of your fingers, if it has a distinct odor, it's brass.

Neat find :)
