Qiuck afternoon hunt. Buttons and ?

went for a quick hunt today in the same spot me and Jdsly hit this weekend and found 4 buttons, 2 rough buttons and this odd piece that has "patent" on it. Always fun to hit a spot that just keeps producing!

Nice finds. The brass patent piece is a keyhole cover for a lock

Looks like a couple pewter buttons too?

Check the faces of those pewter buttons closely - a lot of early military buttons were made of pewter.

That looks right on the patent piece. Thanks. The two pewter buttons are very fragile. I'll carefully clean them when I get home. Thanks for looking!
