Got out to the SouthFork today. The water was cold. Worked a trap up off the water. Got the biggest piece in the last pan and did not want to leave but had things to do.

Awesome. .glad you got out

Great looking gold! Love that cigar shaped piece in the bottom right. Every time you go posting photos like this I start having withdrawals again! Good job on getting out and the finds.

That was the piece. It was really hard to leave the spot. I am going to burn through my list tomorrow and get a couple of hours out there. Hope you get any early thaw up there and can get back to it cause I'm gonna keep hitting it here and you will probably have to suffer the pics....

i was out at the SF today with my daughter. we went to the Dave Moore nature area. We didn't really go to find much gold as my daughter is only 5 and the water is freezing! but i did collect a few pecies of quartz and ran a couple pans. Only one fly poop spec but about a coffee mugs worth of black sands, lol. I'm guessing this area been worked before? lol. I wish i knew where to go to get some color in the pan.

Go to the Skunk Hollow/Salmon Falls Bridge.

Park on the South side of the bridge in the little dirt strip. This is free parking. Walk across bridge go down among the big rocks upstream from the bridge near the little creek and gather material. Hands and pans only rule there. The ground is punched up there and you can scrape material into your pan from the
sidewall of a hole. Here is the panshot from a couple of hours today. Good Luck. Watch Out for the Water Rise. Treacherous quick rise usually around 3pm.

Some nice coarse gold (at least compared to what I usually see). Wish I could get out, but it is currently 23 degrees; it was 18 at about 2 o'clock today.

Supposed to warm up later in the week here on the front range...ijs!

Yes, but I have to teach this Saturday--the only time I have ever taught M-days instead of T-days and I get stuck with a Saturday class! I hope you have a rich outing!

Nice crush!

i did some panning at the house last night. nothing to write home about but here is a picture. (pic is also in my journal thread.) I should note this is from 2 scoops of material from a creek i was working during the summer. still got about 4.5 gallons to go of the same stuff.

Ducky that's a nice amount for only two scoops. I'd like to see the pic after about 25 fivers...Good Luck

I really like the color of that pan mojo, where did you get that?

I got this one at a hardware store in Placerville. It's made by Whites. Really heavy and unforgiving rigidity. Hard on the hands but shows the fine gold very well and is larger than my gravity trap. It will take a hit if you drop it but I would not suggest playing Frisbee with it. It recently went on a 1000 mile journey when one of my gold buds who has the exact same one packed it off on one of his adventures. Safe at home now.

our hardware stores only carry hardware :( need to see if i can find a pan of that color as all i have here is flypoop. What color would you call that? Magenta?

Miner's Mauve?

Man, i have looked for almost an hour (in total at work) trying to find one of those pans. the closest i can find to that color is hot pink and im not about to sport that thing down in the creeks!
