This flexible piece of lead, roughly circular with a diameter of one and one-eighth inch and a minimum thickness of one sixteenth inch is stamped with the letters 'R' and 'V'. Any ideas as to what this may have been used for? I am assuming an age that pre-dates 1900.

The 'R' and 'V' style are similar to the 'serif' typeface examples seen in this 1836 documentBilde-frost[1].jpg
