Purpose for Scraping

just wondering, when you guys scrap, what do you do with the money you make? do you use it to buy groceries, gifts for holidays, deposit in it a special account, put it in a jar for a rainy day, invest in silver/gold with it, or anything of the like? just curious, keep it up and hh!

In my case, we're using the money to survive as the GF and I are both unemployed.

The scrapping I do is to help out between paydays, Its amazing how much scrap metal is generated from 1 apartment complex 129 units 2 truck loads a month!!!

Not to mention tires thrown away in the dumpsters, If they are in good shape I get 5 to 10 dollers each for them HH Chug

What scrap money I get is applied to the mortgage or goes into our tiny little stock market account.

I've been working the Dave Ramsey plan for many years, and every penny I got from of scrap went towards debt that we had. We're down to just a mortgage right now.

I figured once that every $10 extra per month we could apply to some debt, like credit cards, would be worth $100 down the road in saved interest. There are some pretty neat debt calculators on the internet.

Most people I know would think that just a few bucks a month wouldn't make a difference on their debt or interest, but I know differently.

When we get the mortgage paid off, every dime I earn from scrapping will go into some sort of investment, most likely the stock market with very conservative, high yield dividend stocks for retirement.

The vast majority of mine has been going into 90% silver. I have $490 face I have purchased, along with 25 Peace dollars, 16 ASE's and (3) 1/4 ounce gold bullion. Some of it I purchased a couple of years ago at 11X face, so it has increased nicely.

I have always kept mine seperate and invest it for something special. I've been doing the same thing for over 35 years. For the last 4 years I have been saving it for the wife and I to ride our bicycles across the US. If I have a goal it's easier for me to bend over and pick up the can on the way out of the store.

I just made 1200.00 dollars last week. Its like an extra payday. I bought a nice projector with my money

Last time I went it was used for gas......I only took in cans that time. I use the other stuff to help with bills. I hate debt.

It's just part of my plan on paying for my daughter's college. Last week I thought is was 2 years down & 3 to go (no one can do it in 4 anymore) and this weekend she informed me after she graduates its two more at a speciality college.

So far the plan is working.

Mine goes in a special account at my credit union,it has about $500 in it know,it took about 5-6 years to get this far.
