I have watched the video that shows V. Garrett, and my question comes from that video. He did an air test with his wedding band and it showed a 62. I think he than did a old style pull tab and showed 52, new style 58. The video that is out showing the depth capabilities showed a gold ring st 53. So finally the question, is the AT pro able to distinguish between pull tabs and gold, and can you notch out pull tabs?

Sorry No, I was Playing today and My wedding ring 14k gold band And A New pull tab came up the Same!!!! solid 55

Damn, so tired of digging pull tabs. Did a ballfield past couple of days, mainly the outfield. Found some coins, but I don't understand the pull tabs , back in my day, we played and drank afterwards.

Those lawn mowers will Toss a Pull-tab A Long ways I've Seen it HH Chug

I have only found two gold rings but they rang up a solid 55. I thought both were probably nickels because they rang up so clear. However I have never hit a nickel at 55 always 51 -53 for me.

Well that brings up another question, where does gold start, 55?

Jarocki, if you want all the gold targets, you need to dig everything from 40 up. I've seen small gold hit at 43, 45, 47, 49. Also seen larger gold hits at 53, 55, 57 , 59, 60, 62 and up. The ID is determined by the karat weight (10K, 14K, 18K, 22K) and the size and thickness ( small, large, thin band , thick band) . You can run coin mode if all you want is silver, but we all dig the trash to get to the gold. Gold and Aluminum are similar in conductivity, that's why some gold comes in as a foil signal.

I gave up on finding gold unless I have a good hit which often times turns out to be a pull tab, If I dug every signal in the Parks an Ball Parks an etc.... that I hunt, it would be like turning over a new garden for planting vegetables. Your best finds are in the water digging everything, chest deep water has been discussed as the most productive.

I love me some pulltabs... :laughing7:

Terry your sick :)

To put gold rings in perspective, a 14 kt. ring will not always ring up at the same number due to what other metals it is alloyed with. Also its orientation in the soil can affect the numbers. Why its silly to depend on the screen.

Ive found gold rings that read from 42 to 76...pull tabs from 50 to 60...most gold rings read in the 50s.

My rule of thumb is simple, if it is a consistent tone, regardless of the number, I dig it. Yes, I check the number and I'll call what I think it is and most of the time I am correct but if I don't hear any crackling in the tone I am digging.

Gold and Pulltabs are the same things on ANY machine.

I found a 1.5gram 10k ring this weekend, it read as a "46" which is usally in the FOIL area.
My other Gold rings read as
59-60 <<14K wedding Band
52-53<<<14K Womans Ring
51-52<<<< Most my other gold rings

PUlltabs read high on my machine..58-62....But if they are missing the Beaver tails, they are in the 54-57 range....But JUST the beaver tails reads as 49-51

And Nickels Read as 52-53

So really...you need to dig ANYTHING that reads constently from 40-74

MY hunting Buddy has a 25 Gram 14k ring he had made from his finds. When I check it with my ATP..it read as a 74-75...which is a Zinc penny....So if you want BIG GOLD..you better be digging those High Gold Tones

What about a gold pull-tab?....What kinda VDI would that have?

Thanks dig-n-dumps......that number info is worth its weight in gold!

What about a 14 Kt white gold ring alloyed with nickel, silver, or titanium? The numbers change on orientation and depth too. Rose gold rings are different yet. So your better off not even looking at the screen to decide if you should dig.

If you get a solid signal, no matter what the number - dig it!:headbang:
