Public Service Announcement Best Metal Detector

Judging from many of the recent posts that either ask for the 'best' metal detector for the price, this may cut down on those types of posts.

Yes it's a good thing to help someone when making their first purchase, but there are so many factors to take into consideration, like what type of hunting, ground, etc... This alone can be confusing to someone just entering the hobby.

I am hoping that by making a detailed reference to the detector you are suggesting you leave some good details that include price, uses i.e. land/water, and your general working knowledge of that detector. This should also help to avoid any pissing contests.

Yup, I use an inexpensive detector and have no problem with that :laughing7:, so I'll be glad to go first and give you an idea as to the format to help others

model: Garrett Ace 250
Price: about $230 shipped
Targeting: both screen & tone
Discrimination: yes
Depth: up to about 8" maybe a little more
Uses: land, beach, water (don't get control box wet)
Accessories: sniper coil 4.5", used in trashy areas for smaller area coverage
larger coils 18"x15" 21"x17" go deeper, cover larger areas quickly.
Questions? please pm me

Brief synopsis: I find stuff with it

Yea, I made that short and sweet, but write what you feel

The best part is that you can go back to others replies you have given over time and just modify them a bit and put it here to help someone new.

If a few people are kind enough to add to this list you can always bump it so that others can view your choice and reason.

2 bonus questions
1- Are there better detectors out there Ans: probably
2- Do I care Ans: NO

about 215 shipped
8" coil stock works well for general searching
11" DD coil for deeper searching
screen and tone
works well for most soil types
water proof coil, don't get control wet.
i find plenty with it found it to be just as good as some more expensive detectors
