Good afternoon everyone
We all have our idea of what is our best find ever, today finding this was not even a thought or on any list. In fact I didn’t even know it existed . Literally my last signal and out pops out what look like a medal of some sort and it definitely gave me that grin we have all had. I could tell it had a lot of writing and a very unique shape. I got hope and soap and water and out it pops. As a native North Carolinian and Veteran this one rocked my world and will go front and center top shelf in my display cabinet

Very Cool! My Grandfather was in WW1 and awarded a medal by his home state of NJ.

Here is what your medal looks like with the ribbon attached...

Nice congrats!

Beautiful!

That is one very cool piece- Congrats!

Too bad there is no name associated that you might try and return it to the family.

Thanks for your service! :icon_thumleft:

Cool find! :icon_thumright: If it was a presentation piece, wouldn't they have actually engraved the person's name on the back or was that left up to those who received one?

Nice find! I can see why it's your best ever! :icon_thumright:

Being doing a little research and all the examples I can find on line so far have had no name . From what I have read there was a some what limited supply . Have t been able to find out how it was presented . Surprising to me was also the fact that it appears many states did something very similar to the North Carolina medal. The hunt continues even after the find . Love trying to find information

Wow ... congrats on finding a great piece of history ! :occasion14:
Would make a real nice center piece in anyone's display for sure !

That is a great find, should be proud and thank you for your service sir

Being a VET I can understand how you felt when you first saw it. Makes you stop and think!!

If you wanted a Ribbon for that medal, the “Boy Scouts -“Eagle Scout medal”
yeah, you would destroy a good medal, but the ribbon would make it complete
for a display..... I’m sure a good jeweler could fix the clasp at the top, and polish it up as well.
