Damn...that looks like lots of work with little reward..other than exercise which you
probably didn't need..lol

Gotta ask..what led you to chose that spot?

Following the ways of the one blanket jackass prospectors of old.
One day if good lord willing I live long enough I am going to write a book on hard rock mining, I have compiled years of desert prospecting wisdom mostly from just good old fashioned hard work and following the old timers around on foot, and learning from their ways.

ROFL...yep, that makes total sense. Dug plenty of empty holes,
and last time on the creek my buddy said "Dig Here!"..so I did..
..without sampling, and should have known better..

3 hrs. later and all I had to show for the effort was 4 or 5 little flypoops in the pan.

gold tramp,
My hat is off to you and that is kinda dangerous as their is no hair on top. Those pictures say it all, mining or prospecting or whatever one cares to call it is not a weak mans sport and it is never recreational, it is solid hard work! Your pictures show plenty of hard work, dusty, hot and uncomfortable hard work. Well Done!!

Where one chooses to dig is just that a choice. It may be based on intuition, looking at the 'lay' of the terrain, something just something about 'that spot' that says dig, or possibly a nugget laying in the open on that spot. That last one has never happened to me and most of my digging and moving 'stuff' has resulted in limited if any gains other than the experience and the adventure. The adventure is usually what keeps me going though the scenery I'm usually in is mighty easy on the eyes and then a small flake of gold in the pan can usually but not always be found and that helps as well.

My very best wishes go out to you and thank you very much for posting and sharing with all of us here on Tnet....................63bkpkr
