Prospecting in the 'Burbs

I am fortunate enough to live in GA on the gold belt near lake Allatoona and I thought I'd make a video.

It's my first try at a vid so there's mistakes like bad audio and letting my music go too long but I promise, my next installment of "Prospecting in the 'Burbs" will be better.
And shorter.

And have a picture of the final cleanup.

Enjoy!

Re: Prospecting in the 'Burbs

I enjoyed the video and your video camera takes very clear pictures.
Good looking country there. With some minor tweaking of the areas
you mentioned, you will make a good movie producer. :laughing9:
Quite well done...look forward to more of them. Gold Nuggets :hello:

Re: Prospecting in the 'Burbs

assuming you have permission tobe there and could possibly get a quiet dredge to work that creek, you do well! but most developments like that dont want any equipment in the streams! it could be Heaven!!

Re: Prospecting in the 'Burbs

I like your style. I moved from a great location in the mountains down to the city and am doing the same thing. keep up the good work nice video by the way.

Re: Prospecting in the 'Burbs

I would suggest loading Google Earth onto your PC, then try the MRDS or Mineral Resources Data System. We own it, free to use.

1. go to this link. http://tin.er.usgs.gov/mrds/find-mrds.php
2. Leave site name blank.
3. Select a state, leave country at the default value of anywhere.
4. With commodity - select Gold from the pulldown list.
5. Leave Operation type and ID as is.
6. Click on the Search button.... wait for the database on the server to create a file with the relative data.

A new page will appear with Choose Format. Change the Shapefile type to Google Earth.
1. Click on the Get Data button.
==== Wait ==== Like when did the government ever do something in an instant.
Usually I would select the filename.KML. Runs faster than the compressed file.
2. Click on mrds-Georgia-Gold.kml
3. File download window appears.
4. Select the Save Button.
5. Select a folder where you know the file can be found later
6. Open Google Earth and from the File menu, select Open. Go to the folder and click on the file that you saved.

You will now have the whereabouts of almost every known gold mining activity in Georgia. About 804 mines.

I've attached the compressed file to this reply. Hope it gets through the file filter on Treasurenet

Best regards
